by Peter Elgass,
bilingual german and english,
231 pages, black and white, many photos and drawings,

During the last few years a trend has increased, which should worry all of us. Not only have human genetic components been commercially protected by patent offices without too much hesitation - would-be design companies and sales groups helped and still help themselves unscrupulously in the "market of ideas", not only in metal design. Not only in the creations of the experts presented in this book but also in history these "product pirates" found design examples which they claimed to be theirs. Baroque scrolls from old church gates were as unscrupulously design patented as Jugendstil elements and Bauhaus ideas. Cultureless patent guardians do not even go to trouble of checking where the designs pirates have helped themselves. HEPHAISTOS presents the originals: Leopold Habermann, Pavel Tasovsky and Jaroslav Kaspar (CZ), Olavii Osara (SF), Claudio Bottero (I), Hans Klasmeier, Thomas Gustav Kenngott, Oskar Hafen und Josef Bzdok (D).
