What do you need if you want to start forging?

We are often asked this question, but there is no general answer to this question... it depends on what equipment you have and what you want to forge. There are hardly any limits to the creative freedom when forging - you only need a sensible basic set of equipment to get started.

The absolute basics are a hammer, tongs, an anvil and something to heat the forged material. A clear guide with basic knowledge, good instructions, tips on the right choice of material and the appropriate heat treatment is essential even for those who don't like reading, because there are few jobs that look so simple but require as much practice and experience as forging.
