The thermal monitoring device is part of the thermoelectric ignition safety device for gas-fired forge furnaces and, in the event of a malfunction, is designed to quickly prevent the escape of unburned gas.

 

Function:

The gas flame heats the tip of the thermocouple. This generates a thermal voltage, which is conducted through the copper wire to a holding magnet. Once sufficient voltage has been built up, the magnet holds the valve open. If combustion ceases, the tip of the thermocouple cools down, the thermal voltage is reduced, and the holding magnet closes the valve. The response time is between 10 and 60 seconds, depending on the design.
