The original work shirt of the blacksmiths & locksmiths
The dense weave provides protection against sparks. In order to protect yourself from the ubiquitous sparks when working in the forge, protective clothing was worn as early as the time of industrialization. Leather would actually have been needed for ideal protection. But since leather was expensive, it was only used for aprons. Shirts and trousers made of very densely woven fabric were worn for work.
The sleeves of the shirts were rolled back inwards so that no sparks could get into the sleeves. The traditional blacksmith shirts are still worn and valued in the blacksmiths at work today. Our blacksmith shirts are produced in a small factory in Switzerland. We supply the shirts in blue, black or white.
