Patrick Geiger
The trained blacksmith and museum educator works freelance as a blacksmith alongside his job as a metalworker and has been teaching blacksmithing courses with us for many years.
After his training as a soldier on the sail training ship Gorch Fock, he worked as an archaeotechnician for various museums, specializing in Stone and Bronze Age techniques. Following this, he completed his apprenticeship as a metalworker, specializing in metal design, with a renowned blacksmith at the foot of the Swabian Alps.
His focus was on creating replicas, Damascus steel, and bronze casting. Through numerous demonstrations and courses, he has gained extensive experience in teaching various techniques. He also works as a museum educator at the Federsee Museum in Bad Buchau, where he demonstrates various techniques from prehistoric times. With great enthusiasm and in-depth knowledge, he teaches course participants the fundamental techniques of blacksmithing and ignites a passion for traditional craftsmanship in everyone.
Volker Allexi
Since 1996, he has been conducting foundry projects with young adults as part of vocational preparation, holding casting courses, and demonstrating metal casting with his mobile foundry equipment at trade events, festivals, and industrial museums.
His aim is to convey the significance of this manufacturing technique. Metal casting has a long tradition and offers numerous possibilities for contemporary, creative metal design, he believes.
Metal casting belongs in schools, in artistic training, and ideally, in the curriculum frameworks for metalworking professions. Casting should not be discussed purely theoretically, but also in practice.
To make it easy to get started with metal casting, Volker Allexi has created an easy-to-understand handbook.
With great passion and enthusiasm, he teaches the basic techniques of casting to young and old alike, making each course a unique experience.
