is applied as a protection coating for objects subject to heavy corrosion as well as for the repair of damaged galvanised surfaces.   SCHUPPENPANZER-Zinkschutz, a zinc protection coat, effectively protects iron against corrosion, even without subsequent re-coating. The material’s high metallic zinc content guarantees cathodic protection.    Due to the material’s electro-chemical corrosion protection, no subsurface corrosion occurs should the coating be damaged.  Two-layer application is advisable for objects with strong surface roughness.

Special cleaner for galvanized surfaces     Characteristics: especially suitable for galvanized surfaces ensures ideal adhesion of paint or varnish prevents the paint from peeling off prematurely optimal brightening of old zinc surfaces extreme cleaning power for heavy dirt highly concentrated - long range Removes rust stains, soot, grease, and much more.   It is an acidic concentrate for cleaning hot-dip and galvanized surfaces. It removes flux residues and oxidation products such as rust stains, has an active cleaning effect and removes dirt, soot, grease and oil. It passivates and phosphates so that paints adhere better. This process prevents the paint from peeling off prematurely.   Application: Dilute the zinc cleaner in a ratio of 1:10 to 1:20 with cold water. Then apply with a brush or brush to the surface to be cleaned, Leave on for about 5 minutes and rinse with clean water. If the soiling is very severe, the process must be repeated. Dry well after cleaning.     Notice: Zinc Cleaner Forte must not come into contact with acid-sensitive materials such as marble. When cleaning, always proceed gradually to prevent drying during the exposure time. Carry out a preliminary test in a hidden location.

Which RAL colors correspond to the SCHUPPENPANZER colors? Which RAL color corresponds, for example, to micaceous iron black or wrought iron black matte?

This is generally difficult to determine because SCHUPPENPANZER contains micaceous iron oxide. It can be said that the micaceous iron black shade is similar to RAL 7016. It is even more difficult with wrought iron black matte, as the metallic effect shines through more strongly here due to mechanical processing or weathering.

I still have some red lead at home and would like to use it for the primer. Can I apply SCHUPPENPANZER P or SCHUPPENPANZER O over it?

Red lead is certainly very old, as the use of lead in paints and varnishes has not been common for years. Generally, depending on the substrate, we always recommend using SCHUPPENPANZER Unigrund P or SCHUPPENPANZER Zinc Protection as a primer.

When do I use SCHUPPENPANZER P and when SCHUPPENPANZER O? Is there a difference?

SCHUPPENPANZER P: Is a coating made of synthetic copolymer (PVC). This is used, for example, for fences, steel structures, gutters and downspouts, as well as small roof areas, e.g., over house entrances. The coating of handrails for private use, without heavy wear, is only recommended with reservations. Hand sweat and hand cream can lead to a softening of the material.

SCHUPPENPANZER O: Is an oil-based coating for small and large roof areas. The material is completely free of labeling requirements. SCHUPPENPANZER O dries relatively slowly. During the drying phase, there is no mechanical resilience. A waiting time of approx. 1 week is recommended between the first and second coat. Large areas can be coated seamlessly by spraying or rolling, even in direct sunlight.

Please note: SCHUPPENPANZER O becomes soft and slightly sticky when warmed by the sun.

Can I also paint windows and doors with Schuppenpanzer P?

SCHUPPENPANZER P should not be applied to rubber seals, as these can be softened by plasticizers.
For windows and doors, the rabbet must also not be painted. Strong pressure can cause sticking, and block resistance is not guaranteed.

I have steel window grilles and want to achieve maximum corrosion protection in the long term. Does it make a difference whether I coat the steel with zinc paste and then with SCHUPPENPANZER O or with SCHUPPENPANZER Unigrund P and then with SCHUPPENPANZER P?

SCHUPPENPANZER O is an oil-based coating for small and large roof areas. It is not recommended to use this product for painting window grilles. We always recommend using SCHUPPENPANZER Unigrund P as a primer and always SCHUPPENPANZER P as a topcoat.

Depending on the substrate and the condition of the old coating, sandblast or thoroughly sand the surface beforehand. Then apply 1x SCHUPPENPANZER Unigrund P + 2x SCHUPPENPANZER P.

How much time can elapse between applying the primer and the topcoat so that corrosion protection is still fully guaranteed?

Before visible changes occur on the surface of SCHUPPENPANZER Unigrund P. If this is the case, sanding may be necessary.

My roof is made of hot-dip galvanized steel and is painted with a material other than SCHUPPENPANZER. Rust is already visible in some places. Can I paint over the roof with SCHUPPENPANZER O, or must the old, still intact coating be completely removed first?

A complete removal of the old coating is generally not necessary. It is important that the roof is clean and dry and that the rust is completely removed. A high-pressure cleaner, for example, can be used for cleaning. The rust should be removed mechanically, e.g., with an angle grinder. Please do not use rust converters. The still intact old coating can easily be painted over with SCHUPPENPANZER O.

My roof is made of aluminum and is painted with a material other than SCHUPPENPANZER. The paint is already peeling off in some places. Can I paint over the roof with SCHUPPENPANZER O, or must the old, still intact coating be completely removed first?

A complete removal of the old coating is generally not necessary. It is important that the roof is clean and dry and that the loose paint parts are completely removed. A high-pressure cleaner, for example, can be used for cleaning. The peeling paint can be removed mechanically. This can be done, for example, with sandpaper or an angle grinder. There is no rust, as aluminum does not rust. Then apply 2x SCHUPPENPANZER O with 1 week of intermediate drying in good weather. The still intact old coating can easily be painted over with SCHUPPENPANZER O.

I accidentally painted my roof with SCHUPPENPANZER P, even though I wanted to paint it with SCHUPPENPANZER O. Can I simply paint over the roof with SCHUPPENPANZER O?

SCHUPPENPANZER P can easily be painted over with SCHUPPENPANZER O. Prior removal is not required.

I accidentally painted my fence with SCHUPPENPANZER O, even though I wanted to paint it with SCHUPPENPANZER P. Can I simply paint over the fence with SCHUPPENPANZER P?

SCHUPPENPANZER P must never be painted over SCHUPPENPANZER O. SCHUPPENPANZER O must be completely removed beforehand. When exposed to heat, SCHUPPENPANZER O expands and the paint over it would crack. The topcoat must always be more elastic than the base coat to prevent cracking.

I have already painted my roof with SCHUPPENPANZER Unigrund P and let it dry for approx. 1 week. Now I would like to paint over it with SCHUPPENPANZER O topcoat. According to the weather forecast, it is supposed to rain in the afternoon. I still have about 3 hours of sunshine. Can I still paint today or will the rain wash away the SCHUPPENPANZER?

If possible, painting the roof should be avoided on days when rain is forecasted. The substrate must always be clean and dry. Do not paint on a damp substrate. If there is no other option, it is important that the SCHUPPENPANZER O can still dry for 1 to 2 hours before the rain starts. There is no risk of the SCHUPPENPANZER O being washed away by rain.
